Bradfordville Blues Club

"Every livin' thing got the blues. The blues is everyday livin'. This music is a mind-pleaser and medicine for the soul." -Big Bo Mcgee

On the outskirts of Tallahassee, follow the sign down the thin dirt road with Tiki torches lighting a path and you'll find The Bradfordville Blues Club, "the best kept secret in Tallahassee." Formerly Dave's CC Club, this small cinder block "juke joint" hosts a different touring act every Fri and Sat night, and is sure to provide a unique musical experience to even the most battle tested live music fiend.

In this day and age, great blues bars are hard to find, especially one with a great history and atmosphere like the BBC. In the middle of nowhere, among corn fields and old mossy oak trees an impressive list of national and regional blues acts have graced the stage. Such notables as Bobby Rush, Kenny Neal, Johnnie Marshal, Eddie Kirkland, Big Jack Johnson, Sandra Hall, Son Seals, Bobby Blue Bland, Maria Maudaur, Room Full of Blues, Rosie Ledet, and a host of others have all gotten the dance floor jumping and the club thumping with appearances over the years.

With the lights low and the friendly atmosphere you almost can't help but drink and carouse the night away. The most noteworthy thing about the interior of the club is the 50 plus original portraits of artists who have graced the BBC stage. Take a look at the tabletops and you will find a painted portrait autographed by an artist. The walls and restrooms are also adorned with full blues regalia making you feel as though you've landed in another time period. They don't serve food, so smoking is still aloud, and how could it not be, smoke and blues have been together since the beginning.

If you're looking for a break from the crowd there is always a bonfire lighting up the night sky in back of the BBC. Surrounded by wooden seats, the backwoods atmosphere provides a place where you can relax with friends and have a beer and conversation. In fact, on any given night you can usually have a chat with the artists as they enjoy the rustic setting between sets.

If you are ever in Tallahassee, please do yourself a favor and check this place out. There are many notable clubs in town, but none with the flavor and level of experience as the Bradfordville Blues Club. Just come on out, drink and dance the night away.

The Bradfordville Blues Club can be found at 7152 Moses Lane. For more information and directions visit
